Manufacturing Industrial Engineer
Expleo is currently recruiting for Manufacturing Industrial Engineers to support one of our customers with a BOM managers role on an Aerospace R&D project.
The role will involve the creation, accuracy and management of the BOM structure for a number of products and will include liaison with design and stress to understand the drawing release plan. Speaking with suppliers and aligning the component manufacturing schedules and supply chain requirements with the on dock build plan dates.
The contract can be for sub-contract labour but staff positions are available for the right candidates. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering a high-quality service to our client and will be expected to be proactive and self-motivated in delivering the targeted outputs to support the product.
The Manufacturing Engineers will report directly to the Programme Delivery Leader (PDL) and their role will involve them to be based both on and off the Customers site as the need dictates.
Working within the ME team in our Aero Business Unit, successful candidates will join our experienced team, with whom you will work on varied projects in high-tech and future-oriented industries taking on exciting and responsible tasks according to your skills and knowledge, thus expanding your existing know-how.
Responsibilities
- Programme support activities:
- Updating and checking project compliance to the Quality Assurance and Configuration Management plans
- Document archiving for Flight Clearance evidence
- PLM System configuration management for Data Drops, DFM release and manufacturing/assembly deviations
- Managing the project level product breakdown structure
- Support to end to end routebook planning, particularly regularly integrating the Lvl 2 and 3 schedule inputs
- Act on behalf of the Industrial team to liaise with the Design team to ensure a clear, shared view on design data release needs and status
- Deliverables
- Creation, management and weekly update and reporting of project change request tracker covering CR status and detail
- Management of change request repository with all CRs linked/referenced from tracker
- Creation and update of compliance matrices vs Quality Assurance and Configuration Management with links to supporting evidence/data
- Creation, management and reporting of Flight Clearance compliance matrix and data repository
- Manage configuration of all data within PLM system - produce and report weekly statistics on DFM and manufacturing/assembly drawing status Create and publish Product Breakdown Structure. Review applicability monthly for any updates required.
- Updated routebook delivered monthly
- Industrial activities:
- Manage the overall parts tracker for three extension assemblies with detail part suppliers, tracking dates of data delivery, programming and manufacturing
- Quality assurance activities with suppliers and within the Plant environment, sourcing, monitoring and recording required evidence and paperwork where applicable
- Interrogation of DMU using CATIA v5 to extract relevant models for onward communication as required
- Deliverables
- Create and maintain a Bill of Materials (BOM) for each of the variants.
- Fortnightly updates on status of all detailed parts and components through follow up with stakeholders and drumbeating of suppliers. This will include a strong focus on the fastener BOM and follow-up to ensure timely delivery of fasteners.
- Creation, management and update of industrial data plan, capturing data drop status and linking to archived, configuration-controlled data for each data drop.
- Create and maintain a quality assurance tracker capturing all information and evidence related to the
- Condition of Supply conformity of all components. To be reviewed with Industrial lead on a weekly basis.
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree, or equivalent, with proven practical Engineering & manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Candidates without accredited qualifications will be considered depending upon experience
Essential Skills

Experience
- Experience of Manufacturing Processes and standards
- Several years of professional experience in a manufacturing and R&T environment
- Aerospace & Defence experience preferable but Marine & Automotive will be considered
- Proactive Team Player with a focus on delivery and quality
- Good communicator who is professional during interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Happy to train and coach others
- Experience on 3D CAD system such as Solidworks, Catia, NX
- Candidates will have a proven track record of delivering effective engineering solutions within cost, time and quality constraints
