This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Responsible for the development and implementation of plans and procedures for the testing and commissioning of highly complex transmission and distribution substation projects. Works closely with Station Operations, Field Engineering, and Protection & Controls Engineering in the development of project test and commissioning plans with a focus on ensuring safety and eliminating issues and errors during the commission process. Responsible for commissioning of substation equipment as individual units (breakers, transformers, etc.) as well as overall project commission including controls, systems, relays, metering, etc.
This position is unique in the Substation Technical Organization because the prospective employee will be required to have Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) commissioning and troubleshooting knowledge. This position will require the individual to be an SME and industry leader in BESS, and have the ability to train others in the company. This position also has shared responsibility for optimizing the cost and performance of the assets of the transmission/distribution system. In addition, this position coordinates the evaluation of system failures, and the appropriate resolutions, in order to provide support to operations on unplanned maintenance. This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization's Life Cycle Plan, a comprehensive long-term plan for the transmission/distribution system. This position is responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing and directing the work performed by other engineers. This position may require on-call responsibilities.
