The Chief Engineer / Stationary Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in state office buildings located in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position ensures optimal performance of HVAC, boiler, chiller, and life-safety systems while maintaining safety, reliability, and energy efficiency. The Chief Engineer oversees all maintenance activities and coordinates with various departments to ensure smooth operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and supervising maintenance staff
• Performing routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems
• Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and energy efficiency standards
• Coordinating with contractors and vendors for major repairs and installations

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• Minimum of five years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, boiler, and life-safety systems
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
