Job Description
We're currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity working at one of our automotive specialist customer sites based in the Crewe area of Cheshire as a Design For Manufacture Engineer, on a 12-Month contract basis, starting in September 2025.
Working as part of an established design for manufacture team with responsibility to assess and influence the design and engineering of the product, focused on improving the quality, cost and time required for manufacturing to produce future vehicles.
You'll influence product concept, style and part design through data analysis, technical knowledge and supporting recommendations as well as validation of assembly feasibility for key parts/systems and areas, at regular intervals to align with key project milestones.
You'll also be responsible for completion of targeted studies to compare feasibility of different concept proposals for key components/areas, including recommendations for concept selection.
The delivery of targeted studies will also be important to demonstrate requirements for a feasible design (i.e. changes required to product design, assembly sequence and facilities to ensure a feasible assembly condition.
You'll need knowledge and experience to carry out interior design for manufacture relating to interior wood, instrument panel and console systems, with both engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
The role will be KPI driven with progress measured against an agreed set of targets, for e.g. timing/tasks against plan, generation of project status updates, part/assembly/process issue reports and summary sheets as well as other key performance metrics.
The successful candidate will also need to have knowledge and experience of Computer Aided Design (CAD) in order to conduct CAD assessments and relevant studies such as tolerance analysis and virtual building.
The role will be based full time on site Monday to Friday, 0800-1600.
