Highlights Of The Job
We are hiring up to one (1) full-time, permanent Engineer, Asset Management to join our forward-thinking, dynamic Asset Management team, based in Edmonton, Alberta.
As an Engineer, Asset Management, you will develop and deliver asset management plans, practices, and programs to support EPCOR's Electricity Operations distribution assets. You will apply engineering and data-driven approaches to optimize asset performance across the full asset lifecycle, from planning through execution and authenticate corresponding engineering deliverables.
What You'd Be Responsible For
- Developing optimized capital and operational asset management plans, including lifecycle planning, asset condition assessments, and scope development
- Defining asset information requirements and ensuring supporting processes comply with corporate policies, standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives
- Identifying and justifying budget requirements for capital and operational projects and programs, including engineering and construction activities
- Planning, monitoring, and supporting delivery of asset plan components throughout the complete asset lifecycle
- Developing business cases and regulatory filings in accordance with Alberta's Performance-Based Regulation (PBR) framework, in collaboration with the regulatory group and Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) guidelines
- Analyzing large volumes of asset data to develop risk profiles, assess intervention strategies, and support prudent, defensible asset management decisions
- Ensuring the accuracy, quality, and integrity of asset data, systems, and analytics used in decision-making
- Leveraging advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to optimize asset management deliverables, where appropriate
- Collaborating with System Planning and Grid Modernization teams to ensure effective and efficient asset intervention alternatives and project delivery
- Maintaining working knowledge of relevant standards and best practices, including ISO 55000 (Asset Management), ISO 31000 (Risk Management), and ISO 27001 (Information Security)
- Maintaining familiarity with asset data management tools, analytics platforms, and asset management systems
What's Required To Be Successful
Education & Credentials
- Degree or diploma in Electrical, Computer, Civil/Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
- A master's degree (M.Eng., M.Sc.) or PhD is considered an asset
- Professional designation or eligibility to obtain one (P.Eng., P.L., or EIT registered with APEGA)
Experience & Technical Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of cumulative experience, preferably in electric utility asset management, planning, or engineering
- Candidates with less than the required years of experience may be considered at an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) level and are still encouraged to apply
- Strong foundation in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and data analytics
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Java, C++)
- Demonstrated understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in asset management
- Understanding of electric utility assets and the Alberta utilities regulatory environment
