Automotive Business Support Manager

Canadian Tire is a leading provider of automotive services and merchandise that is committed to quality vehicle maintenance, repair and care. Reporting directly to the Director of Automotive Service Operations, the Automotive Business Support Manager (ABSM) plays a vital role in supporting Canadian Tire Associate Dealers. The ABSM collaborates closely with the Dealer and Automotive management to enhance the customer experience, drive sales and improve productivity across their network of stores, specifically in the areas of service, tires and parts. Utilizing advanced systems, tools, reports, comprehensive training and industry best practices aimed at elevating the performance while ensuring a consistent customer experience across all Canadian Tire Service locations nationwide.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Execute key initiatives centered around Canadian Tire's True North strategy, prioritizing Customers at the Core with a focus on enhancing the customer experience.
  • Drive programs to improve customer service, boost sales and increase operational efficiencies.
  • Lead in-store training and coaching with Automotive teams on initiatives, operations & best practices.
  • Facilitate and lead Service Manager meetings to deliver key updates and insights on programs, metrics, and readiness for upcoming initiatives.
  • Work with local educational institutions to provide quality co-op training programs and promote the technician trade industry at Canadian Tire.
  • Collaborate with Associate Dealers to leverage financial reporting and key performance indicators (KPI's) to improve profitability, drive sales and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct regular site visits to provide assistance and guidance on various programs.
  • Support Canadian Tire Automotive and Associate Dealers with assortment planning programs (APAP and TAP).
  • Assist new, replacement and retrofit store projects for Canadian Tire.
  • Manage budgets, expenses, and financial performance for the region.
  • Develop, maintain and share an intimate understanding of the competitive marketplace at district, national and industry levels.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to improve personal effectiveness, both technical and behavioral.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in people leadership, with a minimum 5+ years experience in Automotive parts and/or service industry.
  • Strong customer focus with emphasis on building and sustaining relationships and teams.
  • Proven track record for achieving targets and delivering on strategic and measured objectives.
  • Effective at facilitating and training small groups and encouraging direct and meaningful dialogue.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends and develop action plans.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Strong business acumen and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work from a home office.
  • Ability to travel extensively within their district and, when required, outside their district.
  • Experience managing or supporting a multi-store territory is an asset.
  • Understanding of the EV – Electric Vehicle market, protocols and standards is an asset.
  • Experience with Automotive Parts Lookup and Auto Service Work Order software, specifically Costar & Epicore is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Tire Corporation environment and inter-related businesses is an asset.
  • Valid Canadian driver's license and personal vehicle.
