Responsible for control systems, including design, specification, commissioning, and project management of local instrumentation and control systems supporting production and utility systems used in batch and continuous specialty chemical manufacturing operations. The current application environment includes Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix and CompactLogix systems) on a DeviceNet/Ethernet infrastructure, as well as GE software packages such as iFIX and iHistorian. Knowledge and experience in programming GE Proficy software suites, including Real-Time Information Portal, Plant Applications, Workflow, etc., would be an advantage. Experience with other PLC platforms such as LS Electric and Omron is also beneficial. In addition, knowledge and experience in Visual Basic, SQL query development, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PowerFlex VFDs, and industrial DeviceNet/Ethernet network design would be a plus.

Expert advice to various groups on modern control systems and process data systems. Champions the changes (capital or non-capital) to improve performance in these areas.

• Business - Scope development, design, scheduling, project management, and commissioning of assigned projects, both independently and with the help of engineering firms.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines by project or production requirement to solve problem.
• Be capable of managing several tasks/projects simultaneously.
• Gathers and interprets customer (internal) functional requirements and re-interprets them to prepare functional control descriptions for Control System programmers.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and shift previously established priorities in response to changing business needs.
• Works in a collaborative manner with production management, process engineers, production engineers, quality engineers, IT engineers, and others.
• There will be local travel for several days at a time.
• Ability to drive six sigma project and Continuous Improvement and participate in root cause analysis.
• Demonstrated knowledge of control system, chemical plant safety, environmental regulations, observation and troubleshooting skills.

Applicable Education, Experience, Licensing, and Capabilities:

• B.S. degree in chemical, electrical, information engineering or mechanical engineering with certifications in various vendor training programs.
• Proficient English communication skills (Verbal & Written)
• 5 years of practical experience is required in the field of instrumentation, process control system design, and programming of PLCs and HMI software, especially, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and GE products.
• Prior experience in a batch and continuous chemical or pharmaceutical environment is desirable.
• Experience with quality discipline as practiced in the semiconductor industry preferred.
• Six sigma YB or GB project leading experience and certification will be good.
