About the Role
Enphase is looking for a dynamic, Principal Engineer – Systems Engineering to lead some of our upcoming energy management system project using photo voltaic inverter, Lithium ion based energy storage product, auto transfer switch, gateway and multiple UI software products. In this position, the successful candidate will lead the system architecture, design, development, integration and validation of energy storage system for commercial markets.
What You Will Be Doing
- Serve as the hands-on central technical systems leader for cross functional teams including electrical hardware, firmware, software, mechanical engineering, validation and quality/reliability groups.
- Use rich experience in the Systems Engineering domain to drive the architecture and development of energy storage system.
- Participate in early-stage system product development and ensure the successful capture of Design & Development, Test & Certification, and Service/Repair requirements.
- Author the systems requirement document (SRD) along with architectural documents including but not limited to the interface documents, sequence diagrams and integration plans.
- Participate in the integration efforts once prototypes are made available in the systems engineering labs, including communication and power testing efforts, to make sure that the design meets the system design requirement.
- Lead the project execution, pass through the multiple stage gates including owning the design soak in Alpha, Beta until launching the project to the market.
- Perform grid code compliance studies (Steady state, transients, power quality) for grid tied and grid agnostic systems.
- Perform Failure Analysis, troubleshoot and identify the root cause of complex system level issues with no supervision.
- Guide system commissioning tool development for energy management system.
- Reproduce the field failures in the lab for identifying the root cause, drive the cross functional team for appropriate solution to the issues.
- Working in a high-energy, fast paced environment with a bias of action.
- Mentor and train Junior Engineers in the team.
Who You Are and What You Bring
- ME/MTech in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years' experience or PhD in electrical engineering with 8+ years of experience in Power Electronics or power system design.
- Experience in developing the systems that have a mix of HW, FW and SW.
- In depth knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, including circuit theory and power systems.
- In depth understanding of system architecture and system design principles.
- A relentless focus on execution with an ability to dig deep into the details when required to solve problems.
- Analytical, decision making and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross functional teams.
- Familiar with energy storage, microgrid and renewable energy systems.
- Experience in Modelling and simulation of Power Electronics or power system components.
- Experience in MATLAB Simulink modelling, integration, and debug skills.
- Experience in Frequency Domain analysis, such as bode, Nyquist Plots and Time domain analysis.
- Good in understanding and analysing the complex control algorithms, debugging and root causing the complex system issues.
- Knowledge in Lithium Ion based Energy storage systems, Battery management system.
- Experience in grid tied inverter design and understanding the advance grid profile functions.
