Team Lead, Enmax Power Financial Services

This Team Lead, Enmax Power Financial Services is responsible for leading the Enmax Power Financial Services team to provide accounting and finance support to the Enmax Power business unit. This includes leading and coordinating a team to provide customer billing, general ledger accounting and back-office processes, detailed reporting and analysis for internal business partners and executive leadership, and process improvement.

The Team Lead works closely with the Manager and the Controller to plan resources, allocate workload, support and mentor the team, deliver quality assurance over accounting and finance work product, and provide insight and analysis to internal business partners for budget, forecast, and reporting purposes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Power Financial Services team, ensuring the quality of work product and fostering staff development, performance and engagement. Providing mentorship, training and continuous feedback to team members.
  • Lead the team in preparing and maintaining the regulatory revenue model, deferral accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist, mentor, and supervise the team in the performance of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting cycle tasks.
  • Assist in the development of quarterly Financial Statements, MD&A, and Note Disclosures for Enmax Power and consolidation of Enmax Corp.
  • Prepare detailed and summary financial analysis for internal business partners, external reporting, and executive leadership.
  • Support finance business partners in compilation and analysis of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and ad hoc requests.
  • Support analysis and information requests for external use by auditors, regulatory authorities, rating agencies, or others as needed.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships within the Enmax Power business unit, with the larger Finance organization, and with colleagues in other business units across functions.
  • Maintain process and internal control documentation and make suggestions for continuous improvement and enhanced leverage of systems and automation where appropriate.

Education Required:

  • Undergraduate degree along with the completion of a recognized accounting designation (CPA)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 8 years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
  • Experience with accounting and budgeting processes and standard reporting cycle.
  • Strong financial analytical skills with ability to relate details to the bigger picture. Ability to ask questions and synthesize responses to provide relevant financial reporting content.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS accounting standards and internal control concepts and principles.
  • Self-directed. Able to prioritize and deliver results with limited supervision.
  • Critical thinker. Able to relate the "how" of a process to the "why", review and critique results, and suggest improvements where warranted.
  • Experience with extracting and inputting data to large ERP systems, creating and organizing reports, and quality assurance of data.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Experience in rate regulated industries and related regulatory accounting would be considered an asset

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at Enmax Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
