Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant- Urogyne

We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant/Patient Support Associate for our busy Medical Group Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery division located at Skokie Ambulatory Care Center. This is a full-time position (40 hrs/wk) and is benefits eligible. Hours will be scheduled/rotated Monday through Thursday between 7:30 am- 5:00 pm, Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm and Saturday every other month. This position requires office cross-coverage for vacations, medical leaves, and such to Highland Park and Glenbrook.

What you will do:

  • Answer phones
  • Schedule appointments
  • Collect co-payments
  • Complete patient registration
  • Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
  • Check in and check out patient
  • Verify insurances
  • Greet patients and escort them to exam room
  • Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
  • Provide front office support as needed
  • Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
  • Phlebotomy and injections may be required
  • Provide clinical care under the direction of the office Practice Manager and Physicians
  • Document vital signs, allergies, medications, reason for office visit and take medical histories
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; perform bladder scans, void trials, catheterizations, assist the physician during procedures
  • Collect/prepare specimens
  • Sterilize medical equipment/scopes using High Level Disinfection
  • Answer phones in admin office
  • Schedule, reschedule and register patients
  • Review provider templates
  • Perform other functions as delegated

What you will need:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required. Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
  • Certification: CPR certification through the American Heart Association required; Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: 1 – 2 years MA experience, prior women's health experiences a plus
  • On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.
