As a Lead Energy Performance Engineer, you are the technical key figure at the interface between engineering, product, and customer success. You develop prototypes and MVPs in Python, lead a team of Energy Optimization Engineers, and ensure that data-driven innovations are efficiently transferred from practice to our product platform. You actively promote the professional and personal development of your colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead a team of at least two Energy Optimization Engineers. Foster their development through coaching, code reviews, and structured knowledge transfer. Create a team culture that combines technical excellence, personal responsibility, and a love of learning.
• Prototyping & MVP Development: Independently develop Python-based MVPs, scripts, and tools that demonstrate new optimization or analysis functions. Test and document results and hand over validated solutions to the product and development team.
• Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring: Analyze energy consumption, forecast, and optimization data. Derive action recommendations, KPI improvements, and new optimization strategies from the results.
• Interface Management: Work closely with the Commercial Customer Success and the Technical Customer Success Team to specify and implement technical requirements from customer projects. Coordinate with the Product Team to transfer MVPs and support their integration into the development process.
• R&D & Innovation: Actively drive research topics such as reference consumption models, new algorithms, or optimization strategies, and develop prototypes or proofs of concept.

Qualification

Education & Experience

• Completed degree in energy engineering, process engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or a comparable field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in energy management, data engineering, optimization, or a comparable technical environment.
• First leadership experience or proven competence in mentoring and coaching technical teams.
• Experience in working with cross-functional teams (product, development, customer success).

Technical Know-How

• Very good knowledge of Python (pandas, numpy).
• Experience in building MVPs, data pipelines, and reporting tools.
• Understanding of physical systems such as refrigeration systems, heat pumps, CHPs, or charging infrastructure.
• Knowledge of optimization or forecasting models (e.g., MILP, heuristic methods, ML).
