This role will provide intermediate-level direction and technical process engineering expertise to ensure a safe and functional process design for our Liquids Pipeline (LP) assets. This includes providing process engineering and hydraulic guidance for new project proposals through the entire stage-gate cycle, as well as providing process engineering and hydraulic support for operational issues or optimization efforts.

What you will do:

  • Actively participate in scope development of pipeline and facility projects, including tank terminals with valve manifolds, metering systems, and pump stations.
  • Complete and/or review feasibility studies, conceptual designs, process and hydraulic studies, and detail engineering designs to ensure designs comply with Enbridge quality processes, standards, and industry regulations.
  • Review and provide technical direction in development of PFD, P&ID, Shutdown Keys, control narratives, and associated engineering documents.
  • Leverage intimate system knowledge and technical competence while guiding project teams to ensure competitive designs and operational reliability. This includes actively participating in engineering activities to support Project Execution teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Review operational process data to drive technical recommendations.
  • Conduct technical reviews, with a focus on process engineering and hydraulics, at various stages in project life cycle gating process.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to the engineering standards and specifications. This includes actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives with respect to design and processes.
  • Support maintenance, testing and reporting requirements for pressure relief and measuring devices.

Who you are:

  • University degree in Engineering.
  • Demonstrated intermediate level technical competence in process design, hydraulics, and engineering within the oil & gas industry.
  • 4-years minimum of progressively complex process and hydraulics engineering experience.
  • Must be registered or qualify to register as a P.Eng. in the Province of Alberta.
  • Working knowledge of liquid pipeline and facility operations.
  • Ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, upper-level management, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ability to shift focus between planned and unplanned activities, while remaining effective despite the resulting disruptive effects.
  • Strong ability to harness operating data to support effective decision making.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Effective two-way communication capability including excellent oral and written skills.
  • Substantial ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines.
  • Well-developed problem solving, decision-making, organization and planning skills.
  • Committed to continuous technical learning and personal development of self and others.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment
  • Limited travel (<5%) to other Enbridge offices/sites/field locations; valid passport is required.
