Electrical Designer / Engineer

Forest Electric NJ is seeking an experienced electrical construction 3D detailer for our Edison, NJ office to be a part of a team of coordinators and engineers that is proficient with Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Competent with Revit, AutoCAD MEP and Navisworks to coordinate in a 3D environment with other building construction trades.
- Create detailed electrical installation drawings from contract documents and specifications for field electricians to build from.
- Create spreadsheets from one line drawings for feeder, conduit and wire lengths.
- Calculate voltage drop, circuit ampacity and pull box sizing.
- Produce detailed shop drawings for electrical equipment, pads, conduit and bus duct layouts.
- Verify drawings and installations are compliant with NEC codes.
- Perform basic design calculations (i.e. duct sizing, etc.) under Engineer direction and review.
- Modify existing drawings to conform with engineering design or construction changes.
- Communicate project status to report target delivery, productivity, and qualify of design.
- Regular, predictable and reliable onsite attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Travel to various project sites is required.
Preferred education and experience:
- Formal education in electrical engineering and/or hands on field experience in electrical construction of data centers, healthcare and pharmaceutical type environments desired.
- Five + years experience in a high volume commercial electrical contractor design and drafting environment.
- Competent with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Office Applications.
- Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems to include lighting, power, fire alarm, etc.
Physical demands:
- The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer.
- Ability to regularly and consistently use a keyboard and mouse.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to commute to construction site locations and navigate around construction site locations.
Work environment:
- While visiting job site locations, the employee may be required to work outdoors, be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical and electrical parts; high, precarious places; dust, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight; cold and heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Compensation Range: $120,000 - $140,000
Other Compensation: Position is bonus eligible.
