The Technical Pathway Program is a 13-18-month intensive fixed duration professional development program, for individuals without a 4-year degree, during which the apprentice receives on-the-job learning and mentoring in a key functional area to be equipped to compete for a Lilly position after successful completion of the apprenticeship.

R&D Tech@Lilly unites science with technology to accelerate the LRL (Lilly Research Laboratories) pipeline and deliver therapeutic innovations. As a member of the R&D Tech@Lilly organization, you will have the opportunity to work in a highly technical and fast-paced team in a scientifically challenging area responsible for clinical product delivery transformation agenda to support an ever-changing research and development environment.

Within Tech@Lilly, Product Delivery delivers critical systems and support to help speed innovation to patients through planning, manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and dispensation of the right product to the right patient at the right time, every time.

Responsibilities

As a Service Reliability Engineer supporting the Greenwood Innovation Center (GIC) in R&D Tech@Lilly, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability, availability, and performance of our services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues, implement best practices, and ensure our systems are running smoothly. Additionally, you will be responsible for security related support activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to automate and optimize processes.
  • Assist in the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of applications and infrastructure.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application performance and infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements as needed.
  • Maintain documentation for processes and procedures.
  • Support application specific hardware (workstations, printers, scanners, routers, etc.)
  • Evaluate signal strength of cellular connections to ensure stability.
  • Check the cellular provider's status for network issues and consider deactivating a problematic network.
  • Recommend switching to the 2.4GHz network if 5GHz connectivity issues arise, particularly for users who may be out of range of the 5GHz network.

Basic Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of previous IT related experience
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including firewall management.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, with the ability to install, configure, and support.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic understanding of wired, wireless, and mobile networks, including troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to manually setup, configure, and maintain Zebra label printers.
  • Familiarity with the ITIL framework, preferably with experience using ServiceNow.
  • Experience managing routers
  • Ability to enable/disable Starlink service using provided job aids.
  • Capability to investigate potential network issues, such as low Wi-Fi speed or frequent disconnections, and provide potential solutions.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and incident management practices.
  • Industry Relevant certifications
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Understanding of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, GitHub).
  • Experience configuring Peplink routers.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $12.98 - $35.96. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
