Position Brand Description: This corporate Reliability Engineer position is part of the Engineering Tech Center, focused on discipline stewardship and leadership of our Reliability program. This position is part of the overall Reliability program and will focus on the processes, technology, methods, and best practices within the Reliability discipline at Lilly. In addition, this position will provide external focus, lead new technology introduction and implementation, and drive productivity initiatives in these aspects. This position will be a global partner to sites and the corporate engineering function, leading key initiatives for these groups.

Key Objectives/Deliverables/Responsibilities:

  • Technical and Discipline leadership – global resource for the Reliability of equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Network continuously with site Reliability engineers, influencing initiatives to improve the uptime and predictability of our equipment and systems, predominantly for our manufacturing sites.
  • Knowledgeable of our GMARS system and how the discipline of Reliability interacts with this tool.
  • Engage proactively with major capital projects to influence equipment/system selection, as well as the ongoing operations of these systems.
  • Advisor to the condition-based monitoring program, fielding escalations (both internal and external), and assisting in program improvements.
  • Productivity improvement – routinely identify and implement systemic improvements focused on improving cost effectiveness, productivity, and stewardship of Lilly assets in plants/processes globally.
  • Consultation - assist sites globally, especially for the Reliability resources at sites, to ensure site needs are met.
  • Knowledge sharing - Provide ongoing technical support to site plant engineering groups, domestic and global (including CMOs/Alliances); provide technical mentoring to Lilly engineers; participate in the creation and maintenance of Engineering Standards and Best Practices.
  • Support sites in continuing to build key technical capabilities.
  • External Influence - Monitor and, when appropriate, influence changes in external standards on Lilly's behalf, and work to ensure ongoing compliance within Lilly.
  • Leverage external resources to stay current and, when necessary, complement internal resources.
  • Coach/mentor and develop of others in the discipline.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a plant engineering, Reliability, or maintenance area.
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or related STEM-field

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Demonstrated manufacturing or plant experience, including the application of cGMPs in the manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with key accomplishments of influence across a broad spectrum
  • Proven business acumen.
  • Technical areas of expertise include sound engineering fundamentals, physical plant systems.
  • Good PC skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong problem-solving and analysis skills (including appropriate use of data and metrics and ability to form a business case).
  • Project coordination skills.
  • Must work independently and, as such, must be a self-starter and capable of working with little direction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using IBM Maximo software application
  • Knowledge of procurement processes
  • Category II Vibration Analysts Certification
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to clarify and simplify complex issues

Other Information:

Domestic (including PR) and some international travel required (typically 10 to 20%).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $64,500 - $167,200. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees.
