Over the past 4 years Elanco IT has been on an incredibly exciting journey. Separating from our parent company and standing up on our own gave us a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a modern technology stack free of the burden of large-scale technical debt. We are now looking to take this one step further, leveraging newly established engineering capabilities to help Elanco deliver on customer needs faster than ever before.

Your Role

This role is part of our Enterprise AI engineering team with a specific focus on generative AI capability and their implementation in Elanco. This role will be working on the cutting edge of GenAI capability strategizing, build and supporting our own implementations in Elanco. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to not only work on cutting edge technology but to contribute to the continued growth of a new highly skilled engineering organisation.

The individual must be able to articulate complex technical topics, collaborate with external partners and ensure quality delivery of the required solution.

Your Responsibilities

Engineering

• Work with Enterprise AI Engineers to support the development and automation of our internal technical products, including GenAI capabilities.
• Join a diverse team working on some of Elanco's exciting engineering projects, contributing to secure, reliable, and efficient solutions using modern technology.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within our core ecosystem to enhance application team and developer experience.
• Collaborate with engineers to learn and contribute to our vision of secure, reliable, and efficient platforms.
• Work cross-functionally, supporting both application teams and operational engineering teams.

Daily / Monthly Responsibilities

• Assist with build and run activities for GenAI products, following incident processes and best practices.
• Collaborate with distributed teams across the business, learning how to support AI/ML capabilities.
• Contribute to code, support product building, maintenance, and documentation under guidance.
• Participate as a member of a scrum team, helping to deliver technical solutions.
• Support the automation of manual IT and business processes through technical contributions.
• Help application teams resolve basic issues related to deployment and usage of engineering products.
• Help work with distributed teams across the business on how to consume AI/ML

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Basic knowledge of natural language processing or AI technologies (e.g LLMs such as ChatGPT or BARD, Embeddings, Prompt Engineering)
• Foundational knowledge in either Python/Typescript desirable
• Operational experience taking internal products and ensuring they are well maintained, supported, and iterated upon.
• Exposure to supporting products advantageous
• Interest and basic knowledge of machine learning models (Python or TensorFlow)
• Familiarity working within an agile team.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• Exposure to Cloud Native design principles (Microsoft Azure / Google Cloud preferred)
• Basic experience with technical tools (ex. Terraform)
• Awareness of cloud cognitive services (Azure Cloud Vision, Google Vision AI)
• Familiarity with AI/Embeddings technologies (Google Matching Engine, Azure AI Studio, Vertex AI)
• Introductory knowledge of modern application architecture methodologies
• Experience (coursework or internship) related to digital platforms, integrations, release management, or data obfuscation
• Understanding of "API-First" integration patterns and API ecosystem basics
• Basic knowledge of authentication/authorization protocols/patterns
