Business Services Representative (BSR)

Scope of Position
As a Business Services Representative (BSR), you will build business relationships with businesses in Wayne County (excluding Detroit). BSRs will either have: an industry specialization and will be responsible for assigned industry sectors such as Manufacturing, Healthcare, Construction, IT, and Customer Service; or a program specialization and will be responsible for engaging with staff and participants of assigned Michigan Works! programs to accomplish job placement objectives. A successful Business Services Representative will ascertain the hiring needs of the employer and attain a commitment to fill a specific position(s) during an agreed upon timeframe. This position requires a combination of both in-office activities and in-field business-to-business engagement.
Essential Functions
Contact employers by phone, email or in person and establish working relationships; interact with personnel and/or manager responsible for the hiring of new employees
Solicit job openings from employers and share information about openings with program staff and participants
Create and maintain complete records of client accounts, including detailed content on sales and service delivery activities and full profile information for the business client in Salesforce
Promote available services, such as On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Going Pro Training Fund (GPTF), and assist employers to successfully access services
Build employer marketing campaign plans using Labor Market information and other sources
Identify employment trends and market needs/wants
Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in assigned sectors and subsectors
Network with area business organizations
Attend job fairs, networking events and information sessions for hiring
Ability to foster interagency relationships in local/state government
Review participant employment skills and match with open positions
Meet with jobseekers to discuss open positions and document jobseeker contacts in case notes
Follow up with employers to ensure that placements are satisfactory and to resolve any issues
Organize job fairs and hiring events monthly
Communicate and collaborate with other BSRs, partner agencies and program staff
Meet performance targets on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Track progress for weekly reports with Business Services Manager
Provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers

Education and Experience Requirements
Must have 1-3 years of sales experience
Workforce Development experience preferred
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Should have skills and experience in providing career development assistance
Should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Must have notable experience in a team-oriented environment
Bachelor's Degree in business, education, human resources or related area preferred
Valid Driver's License and an automobile are required
Should be able to converse with a wide range of professionals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude
Ability to prioritize tasks and strong organizational skills
Business Services staff are required to obtain the Business Solutions Professional Certification Training (BSP) within the first year of employment
