Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in automotive, transportation, critical infrastructure protection, border security, smart cities, uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), and airspace management including urban air mobility (UTM).
Echodyne Is Seeking A Senior Radar Engineer To Join Our Fast-Growing Team!
The Senior Radar Engineer will play a key role in advancing the performance and capability of Echodyne's current and future radar systems. This position focuses on the research, design, and development of radar algorithms—from concept and simulation to system validation. The ideal candidate combines deep radar domain knowledge with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using simulation and real-world data to innovate in areas such as clutter mitigation, interference suppression, and field calibration.
Working within a small, highly collaborative radar algorithms team, this individual will partner closely with experts in antennas, electrical engineering, and data analysis to ensure that new algorithmic approaches translate effectively to high-performing radar systems. This role is ideal for a radar engineer who enjoys exploring novel solutions, building models and simulations, and developing a deep understanding of radar phenomenology to push the boundaries of sensing performance.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, simulation, and prototyping of advanced radar signal processing and control algorithms for FMCW and pulsed radar systems.
 - Develop MATLAB/Python simulations to design, test, and evaluate algorithms for radar performance, clutter suppression, interference mitigation, and system control.
 - Analyze radar data to characterize performance, identify failure modes, and derive insights that guide algorithmic and system-level improvements.
 - Collaborate with Electromagnetics, Electrical Engineering, Software, and Data teams to ensure algorithms complement real-world hardware and environmental constraints and are implemented correctly in production code.
 - Support the bring-up and verification of next-generation radar hardware and signal processing chains.
 - Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical mentorship across the algorithms team.
 - Document and communicate algorithm design rationale, performance results, and system implications across technical teams.

Required Skills / Experience
- Deep understanding of radar systems, including waveform design, signal processing, and system-level architecture.
 - Strong background in radar signal processing for FMCW and/or pulsed LFM high gain, analog beam-forming systems.
 - Strong proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for simulation and algorithm prototyping.
 - Practical understanding of electromagnetics, antennas, wave propagation, and classical mechanics.
 - Has demonstrated ability to take problem statement to algorithm prototype.
 - Experience working collaboratively across hardware and software disciplines.
 - Proficiency with modern software development practices, including source control, testing, and documentation.

Desired Skills / Experience (Looking For One Or More As A Complement To The Core Skills)
- Strong mathematical foundation, including statistical signal processing, estimation theory, and linear algebra.
 - Experience with multi-sensor or multi-radar coexistence, frequency management, or cognitive radar concepts.
 - Experience with sensor fusion, tracking, or state estimation (e.g., Kalman filtering).
 - Familiarity with object detection and classification using radar data.
 - Experience with embedded systems, real-time signal processing, or RTOS environments.
 - Exposure to IMU/GPS integration or motion compensation techniques.
 - Experience with instrument control and automated test systems.

Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or MS with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years.
