About the Team and the Role

Join the Selling Team at eBay as a Tech Lead Sr MTS Android Engineer and make a direct impact on the way millions of people sell items every day. Our agile, collaborative group is dedicated to improving the seller experience by developing intuitive features, seamless interfaces, and embracing emerging technologies. The Android app you'll help shape is the gateway for billions in commerce transactions and millions of daily active users—driving lasting value for eBay and its global community. As the leader of a small, talented team, you'll foster high standards for quality, champion a culture of continuous improvement, and collaborate across domains and geographies. You'll report directly to a senior manager, partnering closely with product and business teams to deliver the next generation of mobile commerce.

What You Will Accomplish

  • Lead and grow a team of Android engineers, attracting top talent and nurturing their development through coaching and mentorship.
  • Deliver high-quality, innovative mobile experiences for millions of daily active users, setting new industry standards for performance and usability.
  • Foster collaboration across cross-functional and global teams, improving workflows and accelerating product delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, advocating for best practices in code quality, technical architecture, and team culture.
  • Champion agile methodologies and data-driven decision making, ensuring successful feature launches and impactful product releases.
  • Mentor engineers in advanced Android development, supporting each team member's learning journey and helping develop future technical leaders.

What You Will Bring

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) designing, building, and releasing native Android applications using Kotlin and established architecture patterns.
  • Proven leadership in managing and developing high-performing engineering teams (3+ years).
  • Expertise in Android frameworks and tools, including Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Dagger, and integration with backend APIs (REST/GraphQL).
  • Strong advocacy for automated testing, continuous delivery, and software quality across the development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and remote collaboration skills for success across dispersed team environments.
  • Experience working on consumer-facing products, driving customer-centric solutions and delivering measurable business impact.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$152,400 - $247,800

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
