• Responsible for moderately complex engineering projects. Works independently or with cross-functional disciplines on key tasks associated with a project.
• Leads completion of Aerospace Common Engineering Standard (ACES) deliverables at the "Minor" risk classification.
• Presents technical information/project status to Sr. Eng. Manager.
• Completes Material Review Board (MRB) sign-offs.
• Performs project engineering work from design development to implementation; for new and/or existing production hardware products for aerospace fluid conveyance systems applications.
• Communicates expectations, plans, and requirements and also coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects.
• Support the development of bill of materials and non-recurring engineering (NRE) cost estimates for new bids and proposals.
• Serves as a consultant, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assists various projects/processes.
• Contributes effectively towards team goals and influences the work group and works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge to support internal and external customers.
• They are often the Technical Leader for large projects or multiple small projects.
• Acts as applications engineer.
• Completes detailed design work for projects and write test procedures and qualification reports in support of program deliverables.
• Can interpret product requirements and specify appropriate enhancements to the design as per DFA & DFM fundamentals.
• Understands risks, design trade-off, tolerancing, and component interactions and incorporates design for manufacturing and cost.
• Has a deeper understanding of drawing standards with advanced GD&T application for repeatable part dimensioning using datum referencing.
• Incorporates machining/manufacturing capabilities into statistical design of mechanical systems to meet performance and cost.
• Understands system level and sub-system/component level requirements flow down.
• Understands trade-offs due to requirements.
• Deeper understanding of aerospace regulatory standards, regulations, and certifications.
• Able to complete Qualification planning for a given product.
• Collaborates with analysts and challenges approach and results.
• Understands various boundary conditions and can handle analysis-led design changes (stress, thermal, fluid flow) using the analysis results.
• Interfaces with customers with some oversight.
• Applies established engineering processes to complete project requirements, and participates in process improvement efforts.
• Work reviewed by Specialist Engs.
• Mentors less experienced Engs.
• Required to become Greenbelt certified (if not already).
• Implements robust designs through data driven decisions utilizing Design for Six Sigma DFSS) tools.
