We are seeking a motivated individual with strong skills in plastic and sheet metal modeling and detailed drawing for the product development. The candidate will be working with a team of mechanical engineers towards design and development of global electronic instrumentation products. Candidate will be responsible for Concept development, perform DFM, design reviews, develop prototype and update project progress periodically. Success in this position requires effective collaboration, a strong drive to achieve project objectives, and the ability to learn new techniques, tools, and processes for the product development cycle.
• Experience in Research/NPI/Sustaining projects for Display unit, HMI machines or similar products.
• Expertise in plastic and sheet metal part design, mechanism design, and system integration.
• Knowledge and experience with plastic materials, their properties, and requirements.
• Creates CAD models, including part and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support manufacturing, testing and assembly.
• Proficiency in Ansys software to perform engineering simulations.
• Experience with various manufacturing processes for contacts and plastic materials (bending, riveting, welding, brazing, injection molding).
• Review reliability predictions, and be conversant with Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and structural/thermal/CFD/MBD results.
• Complete detailed design (2D drawings/3D models) in SolidWorks.
• Will anticipate areas such as thermal loading, mechanical stress, and vibration resonances in a design.
• Knowledge of PLM systems (Enovia, SAP) is desirable.
• Should have an innovative mindset with a proven track record of innovation and product launches.
• Work with other functional teams such as Certification, Manufacturing & Process teams on early track to synchronize product development.
Education - BE/M.tech - Mechanical Engineering
Experience - 10 to 12 years of experience
Experience in NTI/NPI/Sustaining projects for industrial products
In-depth knowledge of injection molding, sheet metal, material selection, tooling, and manufacturing processes
Experience in Ansys software to perform engineering simulations
Experience in deploying DFSS tools for robust design
Extensive experience with product design, sustenance, cost reduction, and agile methodologies
