The incumbent will work on research and development projects focused on Eaton's Data Center Cooling products. This role will actively contribute to the cooling technology roadmap and drive the creation of high-performance solutions for next-generation data centers.
Responsibilities include conceptualizing and validating advanced cooling layouts, developing new technologies, enhancing existing products, and proposing innovative ideas. The position also involves securing internal and external funding, engaging with technology leaders, and presenting concepts and projects to leadership. Success in this role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and business acumen. The position involves working across air, liquid, and hybrid cooling technologies, leveraging industry-standard design tools to produce layouts, schematics, and digital models that integrate seamlessly into digital twin environments.

Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) is looking for Senior Engineer, Data Center - Thermal Management, focused on Data Center Thermal Research to develop advanced cooling and thermal management technologies. This position is based at our office in Magarpatta City, Pune.
Drive Innovation & Technology Development - Work on advanced technology solutions, prototypes, and thermal management roadmaps for data centers; evaluate emerging cooling technologies and digital twin platforms.
Project Execution - Deliver work packages on time and ensure compliance with standards (e.g., ASHRAE, OCP).
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement - Work with cross-functional teams, partner globally, and present compelling value propositions to secure resources and funding.
Qualifications:
Masters or PhD in mechanical or electrical engineering or Energy systems or related field.
Over 5 years of experience in data center energy systems, electrical infrastructure, and cooling technologies, specializing in the design, development, and testing of thermal management solutions.
Skills:
Understanding of data center power and cooling architectures.
Domain knowledge in fluid mechanics and strong experience in simulation methodologies/analytical tools to evaluate component and system level performance.
Comprehensive knowledge of cooling technologies for data centers: air, liquid, and hybrid systems (CDUs, RDHx, manifolds, chiller plants, heat reuse strategies).
Demonstrated strong experience in experimental mechanics, prototyping and testing for developing advanced thermal technologies.
Excellent communication skills, adept at engaging with executives, engineers, and customers.
Proven track record of patents, publishing and presentations.
Familiarity with Autodesk design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, CFD platforms) and integration with digital twin environments.
