Eaton Corporation's Industrial Controls Division (ICD) has an opening for an Electronic Engineering Lead, located in Santo Domingo, DR. This position will reside in the Santo Domingo Design Center building, which is located in the center of the city right next to top local engineering university INTEC and includes design engineering, designers/drafter, lab technician and Industrialization PM personnel from ICD. The facility was built in 2022 and boasts an open office layout surrounded by large windows and ICD dedicated laboratory space and shared development labs. The building is shared with two divisions from the electrical sector including PDC and ARS.
The qualified candidate will be in a lead role responsible for the design, simulation, implementation and verification of electronics for the division's next generation of industry leading products, as well as the re-design for the legacy product to keep them up to date with the latest technologies and components in order to keep the product up to date in the market.
• Manage electrical design aspects of product line support associated with major product line
• Lead all aspects of electrical design related to new product development and product line extensions, following a stage-gate process
• Perform electrical design work (utilizing Altium or similar design tools) and electrical simulation (utilizing PSPICE or similar PC based simulation tools). Includes schematic design, PCB design, design reviews, prototyping bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, test plan creation, test plan execution, functional verification, signal characterization and manufacturing support.
• Lead and supervise laboratory technicians daily operations, ensuring EHS compliance and managing laboratory capital projects.
• Create and modify firmware for microcontroller based products
• Work closely with PCB designer on circuit board layout to optimize component placement and layout for design intent and EMC requirements
• Maintain PCBA designs up to date by monitoring electronic component obsolescence and implementing design changes as required.
• Work closely with Marketing to gather Voice of Customer and develop product specification
• Complete appropriate technical documentation for new product development and existing product support
• Perform and supervise testing to verify functional requirements and compliance to applicable standards
• Solve complex problem using structured using Design/Lean Six Sigma (DfSS) tools for data and process analysis.
Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering from accredited institution
3 or more years experience in electrical and/or electromechanical systems and product design/support
Experience working in electronic product design/simulation utilizing modern microprocessors, networking, user interface, power-supply and power electronic designs.
Experience working with manufacturing team.
Experience with top-tier schematic tools (hardware).
Bilingual: written and oral fluency in Spanish & English.
