HR Director

Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000

Location: Prince George, BC or Vancouver, BC

As HR Director at Drax, you work with business leaders to develop people plans aligned with company priorities and strategy, leveraging knowledge of local operations and HR best practices. Representing your country as part of the HR team, you contribute to the overall HR strategy and utilize strong stakeholder management skills to engage with your HR team, Group HR Centres of Excellence, Strategic Business Partners, and external providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to support and coach in executing the business plan through their teams.
  • Engages in formulating key strategic initiatives, leveraging HR insights and expertise.
  • Builds strong relationships with joint venture partner HR representatives.
  • Develops mid- to long-term HR plans aligned with Group HR and business strategies, ensuring appropriate resources and support from HR Centers of Excellence.
  • Leads HR transformation projects within budget and aligned with company values.
  • Focuses on talent management and succession planning, ensuring solid plans for current and future recruitment needs.
  • Analyzes HR trends and metrics, providing insights and solutions to enhance performance.
  • Develops people plans to boost performance and build capability for future objectives.
  • Manages HR service demands while driving continuous improvement in change outcomes.
  • Coaches and develops people leaders to maximize team effectiveness.
  • Coordinates escalated employee relations cases as needed.

About You

You'll possess the following skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment legislation.
  • HR management qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven HR leadership experience in matrix organizations.
  • Ability to challenge and support leaders as a people leader.
  • Skilled in communication, influencing, and managing senior stakeholders.
  • Capable of identifying trends and making timely decisions.
  • Objective approach, promoting necessary HR solutions.
  • Effective at managing conflicting priorities.

Key Accountabilities

Leadership & Management

  • Ensures that our treatment of employees consistently aligns with HR best practices and the company values.
  • Ensures that strong financial management and commercial awareness serve as the foundation for all business decisions, aligning local activities with company plans.
  • Ensures that annual HR processes are completed in compliance and on time, including pay reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Holds themselves accountable for outcomes.
