Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer in Sydney to work on NCB projects.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Project Scheduling & Planning: Develop and maintain detailed schedules, resource plans, and work breakdown structures.
• Workforce & Delivery Management: Coordinate workforce planning, track task performance, and resolve delivery blockers.
• Governance & Reporting: Support weekly status reports, financial updates, and milestone tracking for project oversight.
• Risk & Issue Management: Maintain registers, support risk mitigation planning, and track resolution of issues and actions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on EDSRA alignment and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

This role requires:

• Defence & Infrastructure Support: Experience providing PMO or project support for Defence or large infrastructure programs.
• Project Management Tools: Skilled in MS Project, Excel, and other relevant project reporting systems.
• Organisational Strengths: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines under pressure.
• Sustainment & Shipyard Experience: Prior exposure to sustainment or shipyard environments considered highly desirable.
• Reporting & Coordination: Capable of producing clear project reports and coordinating effectively across teams.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
