Job Opportunity: Satcom/Rf Test & Evaluation Engineer

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a SATCOM/RF Test & Evaluation Engineer, based in Canberra, to work on Defence Communications projects. This is an on-site role, supporting hands-on engineering, testing and evaluation activities across UHF SATCOM capabilities.

What You'll Do

• Deliver hands-on SATCOM and RF engineering support, with a focus on UHF MILSATCOM test and evaluation activities
• Develop, execute and analyse test procedures in alignment with Defence-approved standards, safety requirements and engineering processes
• Support the development, configuration and ongoing improvement of a specialist SATCOM Test Facility to enable conformance and system testing activities
• Prepare technical documentation and written reports, including test procedures, results, analysis, fault tracking and engineering assessments
• Provide engineering support and advice to ADF and Defence stakeholders across sustainment, acquisition and capability user communities

What You'll Bring

• Comprehensive experience in SATCOM or RF communications engineering, ideally within Defence or other regulated technical environments
• Strong knowledge of Defence UHF MILSATCOM communications capability
• Demonstrated experience undertaking test and evaluation activities, including test planning, execution, data analysis and reporting
• Proven ability to produce clear, accurate and well-structured technical documentation and engineering reports

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
