Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for an ILS/Operations Support Officer in Canberra to work on COSPO projects.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Advanced administration capability across core enterprise platforms, including Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Skype, Citrix VDI, and hypervisor environments.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, demonstrated through prior management roles, effective collaboration, and the ability to produce clear, high-quality written documentation.
• Deep Defence ICT and ITIL experience, including work in Defence fleet environments, Level 3 and high-priority incident management, and implementation of monitoring and service-level management processes.
• Broad technical exposure to Defence-relevant technologies, with familiarity across Fortinet, Cisco, HYCU, Red Hat, Tanium, Carbon Black, Elastic, containerisation platforms, and prior Minerva experience.
• Proven ability to operate in secure, regulated environments, managing multiple priorities, resolving complex Defence-wide ICT issues, and maintaining compliance through strong problem-solving and ITIL-aligned practices.

What You'll Bring

Relevant tertiary qualifications and project management certification, with SAFe Practitioner certification required (or completed upon engagement).

Leadership and Defence sustainment experience, including team mentoring, complex stakeholder engagement, and work within a Defence SPO or similar environment.

Strong analytical and technical capability, demonstrated through data analysis for strategic outcomes and experience with ASDEFCON, engineering or ILS artefact development.

Broad operational and ICT exposure, with desirable experience in Agile/DevOps, cyber security, workflow management, personnel management, and warehousing/PHS&T.

Ability to operate in complex, regulated environments, managing competing priorities while maintaining high-quality communication and collaboration across Defence and industry stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
