The Opportunity

Our Energy & Utilities business is seeking a Telecommunications Service Technician to join our great Telco team based in Nelson. Reporting to the Field Manager your key responsibilities will include:

• Install, configure, and maintain fibre optic, copper, and wireless telecommunications network equipment and cabling
• Diagnose, locate, and repair network faults efficiently to minimise service disruption
• Use specialised testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, Light Source/Power Meter, VFL) to test network performance and integrity
• Perform routine network inspections and preventative maintenance

Important Skills

• Proven hands-on experience as a Telecommunications Technician or a similar field role working with both copper and fibre. (minimum 3 years)
• NZQA Level 3 Telecommunications Certificate or equivalent preferred
• Current Class 1 Drivers Licence
• Familiarity with working in a safety-critical environment and a strong commitment to safe work practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail
• Effective communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
