About This Role

As a Senior Hardware Discipline Engineer based in Chennai, you will provide specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance as a Process Containment Equipment (PCE) Engineer, understanding and implementing Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within the PCE Discipline.

The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Disciplines require expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broaden capabilities to support both projects and technical support teams as an Inspector, Discipline Engineer or Discipline Lead on site executed, small, intermediate and large capital projects.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Prepare Mechanical Data Sheets & Material Requisition Packages, Bid/Offer evaluations, Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), Purchase Requisitions and vendor document/drawings reviews as per relevant codes, standards and owner specifications.
  • Understand and implement Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within Process Containment Equipment (PCE) Discipline.
  • Coordinate implementation of PCE design best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with Dow standards, maximizing value for the businesses we serve and providing the lowest long-term cost to operate and maintain.
  • Deliver value in design, understanding and implementing "Safety in Design" and "Process Safety" concepts.
  • Assist in project reviews and team checks as required to ensure quality of deliverables.
  • Have responsibility for the appropriate level of attendance at project meetings including but not limited to site contractor visits.
  • Gather lessons learned from projects and leverage these in future projects and assignments.
  • Mentors and Coaches new engineers as required.

In The Discipline Lead Capacity:

  • Has accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes and best practices.
  • Leads the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure accurate reflection of scope.
  • Maintains awareness of schedule, milestones, and challenges of assignments and projects.
  • Represents the PCE Discipline in meetings and multi-discipline discussions.
  • Directs activities within the PCE Discipline and coordinates activities with other project disciplines.
  • Ensures PCE Discipline deliverables meet the needs of the project including functioning as intended, on time and within budget.
  • Leads technical contract package development and supports implementation.
  • Drives value engineering and economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the businesses we serve.
  • Drives a "No Change Mentality" culture within the project team and discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or master's degree in mechanical engineering with 8-12 years of relevant experience.
  • Well-experienced in Design & Detailed Engineering of various static equipment, like Pressure Vessels, Columns/Towers, Storage Tanks, Silos, Reactors, S&T Heat Exchangers and Filters for Petrochemicals and Refineries.
  • Detailed exposure to international codes/standards such as ASME Sec VIII Div 1 & 2, ASME SEC II, ASTM, API 650, API 620 and TEMA.
  • Functional and practical exposure to Design by Rules (ASME Sec VIII Div 2 – Part 4), Design by Analysis (ASME Sec VIII Div 2 – Part 5), and Fatigue Analysis (ASME Sec VIII Div 2 – Part 5) of Pressure Vessels.

You Skills

  • Familiar in designing static equipment using international software such as: PV Elite, Compress, and AMETank, etc.
  • Demonstrated problem management and issue resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (Written and Verbal) is a must. Frequent communication is expected with Equipment Suppliers / Vendors, inter-discipline team members and other engineering centers.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal effectiveness, and communication skills. Essentially a team player with flexibility and agility.
