Material Cost Sourcing Engineer

As a Material Cost Sourcing Engineer, you will identify and implement technical solutions to reduce material and component costs while maintaining quality and functional requirements. You will collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and suppliers within Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) project.

What you will do:

  • Providing cost intelligence and data analysis to guide design and sourcing decisions.
  • Identifying cross-PD sourcing synergies and optimal technologies to drive cost reductions.
  • Performing Material Design for Excellence (DfX) assessments during PTM phases.
  • Engaging in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) activities and cost-reduction (Kaizen) initiatives in collaboration with PD teams.
  • Maximizing supplier contributions to Markem-Imaje (e.g. productivity, technology, and flexibility) by identifying the best supplier fit and driving improvements within VAVE and concurrent engineering projects.
  • Developing material cost models and should-cost analyses to support project costing, competitor benchmarking, negotiation preparations, and category strategies.
  • Supporting global category colleagues in supplier profiling, scouting, and selection.
  • Engaging in direct negotiations in tandem with global category colleagues.
  • Contributing to market intelligence and spend bridges.

What you need to have:

  • Degree in Engineering (Bac +5). General technical background is necessary. Specific technical knowledge can be necessary upon the scope of responsibility assigned.
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes to supervise, acquired through both academic trainings and operational experience, allowing identify optimal methods of manufacture and to point out potential DFM issues.
  • Practical knowledge of costing models & material cost structure, as well as basic Financials.
  • Experienced in supplier management (supplier screening, RFQ process, supplier onboarding, SRM, etc) and Negotiation.
  • Practical in Project management.
  • Knowledge of should costing methods, tools and software and VA/VE technics would be a key advantage.
  • Would be a plus to have practiced Lean technics (VSM, Kaizen ..), Product & Process Design, Statistics (SPC, 6 Sigma …), Specification / Contract.
