We are looking for a cashier and/or stocker to function in a lead capacity in the absence of the store manager or assistant store manager. The ideal candidate will assist in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, provide exemplary customer service, and perform other duties as necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork, while protecting company assets and reducing losses.
Duties and essential job functions include unloading trucks, following company work processes to receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes, stocking merchandise, rotating and facing merchandise on shelves, building merchandise displays, restocking returned and recovered merchandise, ordering zones and drop shipment categories, assisting in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance, and assisting customers by locating merchandise. The position also requires bailing cardboard, taking out trash, dusting and mopping store floors, cleaning restrooms and stockrooms, greeting customers, maintaining register countertops, operating cash register and flatbed scanner, collecting payment, cleaning front end of store, and helping set up sidewalk displays. The candidate will also help maintain a clean, well-organized store and facilitate a safe and secure working and shopping environment, provide superior customer service leadership, follow company policies and procedures, open and/or close the store, authorize and sign for refunds and overrides, count register, make bank deposits, assist in maintaining strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures, monitor cash levels, make appropriate drawer pulls, monitor cameras for unusual activities, supply cashiers with change, and complete all required paperwork and documentation.
Knowledge and skills required include the ability to perform mathematical calculations, knowledge of cash handling procedures, ability to perform IBM cash register functions, knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills, understanding of safety policies and practices, and ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance. Work experience and/or education preferred includes a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training).
