Machine Design Engineer
DishER is currently partnering with a world leader in the design and manufacture of fluid application systems for the industrial market. Their main focus areas are machining lubrication, stamping and metal forming lubrication, precision fluid dispensing, and fluid mixing and supply. The company serves a global industrial client base and works to improve process efficiency and sustainability by helping manufacturers reduce fluid consumption, optimize tool performance, and eliminate excess waste.
We are looking for a hands-on machine design engineer with a passion for designing and building automation equipment, tooling, and custom fluid dispensing machinery. You'll take concepts from a blank screen to a fully built solution. This includes modeling, prototyping, detailing, and supporting assembly and startup on the shop floor. The candidate that fills this position will play an important role in the continued growth of the company.
What You Will Get To Do:
- Design and integrate mechanical and controls systems including components, wiring layouts, sensor placement, and assemblies for custom automation and fluid dispensing equipment.
- Work in SolidWorks to create 3D models, detail drawings, and assembly prints for machined, fabricated, and sheet metal parts and assemblies.
- Develop mechanisms, systems, and controls using pneumatics, hydraulics, and actuators.
- Support prototype builds, machine debug, and testing through launch.
- Work with end users and OEM customers on unique system designs.
- Work with production and suppliers to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and serviceable.
- Research new technologies and incorporate them into new or existing designs
- Generate user manuals, test processes and other technical information.
- Occasionally travel to install, troubleshoot, or support machines at customer sites.
What Will Make You Successful:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 3-5+ years of mechanical design experience ideally in automation, special machines, or capital equipment.
- Proven ability to design mechanical parts and assemblies using SolidWorks (PDM experience a plus).
- Strong background in machine design, including linear motion, actuators, bearings, gearboxes, and structural frameworks.
- Experience designing with machined parts, weldments, and sheet metal.
- Knowledge of GD&T, dimensioning practices, and drawing standards.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic system design.
- Working knowledge of electrical and controls engineering, including system wiring, sensor integration, motion components, and PLC/HMI interfaces.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
- Experience with PLC/HMI integration or Epicor ERP is a plus.
