The Volunteer Shift Lead supports the day-to-day operations of the Volunteer Services Department. Responsibilities include assisting with volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision; conducting orientations and interviews; maintaining accurate records in the volunteer management system; and helping plan volunteer events and recognition activities. This role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A flexible schedule is essential, with availability during evenings and weekends required.

Responsibilities:

  • Help manage Volunteers during normal operations as well as special events
  • Help collect, track and organize volunteer applicant paperwork from interview thru training process
  • Help track volunteer service hours and manage various volunteer recognition pieces and events
  • Provide timely response to incoming e-mails and phone calls
  • Recruit volunteers for large scale events
  • Maintain positive relationships with volunteers and volunteer groups
  • Complete additional tasks/duties as assigned

Volunteer Training:

  • Facilitate, prepare, and manage Volunteer Trainings:
    • New Volunteer Interviews
    • New Volunteer Orientation
  • Create, implement, and sustain new and update trainings for new volunteer positions and programs
  • Organize Volunteer Room as a welcoming and informational hub

Event Planning/Management:

  • Help organize Volunteers during special events
  • Attend meetings and prepare for special events where volunteer assistance is required

Projects:

  • Complete additional projects that may be assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a support role, preferably in a nonprofit or customer service environment
  • Experience working in an educational institution desired
  • Strong organizational and data entry skills with attention to detail
  • Proactive, motivated, and driven
  • Quick to learn new skills
  • Ability to manage stressful situations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Able to develop strong working relationships with both adult and teen volunteers

Full Time 32-40 hours/week

Compensation: $19 - $21 USD
