Position Summary
The Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of Discovery Cube's facilities, exhibits, and grounds. This role leads custodial operations, oversees facility systems and vendors, manages budgets and contracts, and ensures a safe, well-maintained environment for guests, staff, and exhibits. The Facilities Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and the Sr. Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Provide full oversight of facility operations, ensuring the building and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
- Manage custodial staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
- Oversee maintenance of facility systems (HVAC, fire safety, elevators, plumbing, roofing, etc.), coordinating preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify facility needs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Respond to urgent facility issues and oversee resolution to minimize downtime or disruption.
- Manage custodial supplies and equipment, ensuring proper use, availability, and budget control.
- Ensure compliance with MSDS documentation, appearance, attendance, and conduct standards.
Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, fire safety, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance of facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, roofing, fire safety equipment, elevators, etc.).
- Perform minor repairs and coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized services.
- Support emergency preparedness, evacuation planning, and incident response procedures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and after-hours emergencies to minimize downtime.
Grounds & Vehicles
- Oversee landscaping and grounds upkeep, including trimming, weeding, debris removal, and walkway safety.
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of landscaping equipment.
- Manage company vehicles, including inspections, routine maintenance, and recordkeeping for compliance.
Administration & Planning
- Oversee vendor relationships for services such as landscaping, HVAC, elevators, pest control, and security.
- Develop scopes of work, solicit and evaluate bids, and ensure projects and services meet quality standards.
- Review, negotiate, and manage contracts, including renewals and compliance with organizational needs.
- Advise leadership on vendor selection, contract performance, and capital project planning.
- Maintain organized records for custodial, maintenance, and vehicle activities.
- Develop, manage, and track the annual facilities and custodial budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Travel to offsite warehouse and LA campus as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 5+ years of supervisory/managerial experience in custodial or facilities operations.
- Knowledge of custodial practices, cleaning materials, and facility equipment maintenance.
- Experience with staff scheduling, inventory management, and vendor coordination.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Availability for after-hours/on-call emergencies.
- Demonstrated initiative, urgency, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Higher education or technical training in facilities management or a related field.
- Knowledge of museum, attractions, or family entertainment industry standards.
- Experience preparing reports, proposals, or presentations for senior leadership.
- Bilingual skills.

Compensation
$70,304 - $75,000 USD
