Diageo Mexico Supply is accountable for local manufacturing and production of tequila and other global brands. Tequila Don Julio has seen a spectacular increase on domestic and export sales driving sustained double-digit growth, with forecast sales volumes exceeding plant capacity.
This role is based in Atotonilco, Jalisco. Initially, this role will implement medium to high complexity projects and shall deliver operational improvements on Mexico Supply operations.
The role will ensure the proper follow up and delivery of the operational projects within the overall budget and handle the current financial year cash exposure including consideration of any currency fluctuations.
This engineering / operational projects covers multi-functional and technical competencies. This role will influence and lead multi-functional project teams, including internal and external resources.
This role has direct responsibility for leading and running the project team which will include full time Diageo employees, contractors and both local and international suppliers.
Establish and effectively lead project budgets and objectives. This role must reinforce CAPEX standardized project along the organization, ensuring completion and delivering overall projects using change control management, training, construction management, scope development and consensus with customers on user requirements, justification, constraints and assumptions. Must be able to communicate project status, needs, and KPI's to wide range of customers across the business.
A flexible leadership style is required, which will allow influencing at all levels both internally and externally through coaching, facilitation and multi-functional team working. In particular, it is crucial that the role delivers projects with zero harm.
The project Engineer is responsible for leading projects from planning, performing to closure ensure proper process application and following work plans and leading budgets.
Ability and willingness to set and maintain clear direction on safety is crucial.
This role must ensure projects are within scope, direction and schedule. Able to lead other departments to get the job done.
This role requires exposure to directors and customers across Diageo.
Delivery of the Annual CAPEX plan on time, in budget and to the agreed specifications / performance with zero harm.
This will include:
Leadership and management of suppliers and contractors, and management of the project team.
Development of personnel through coaching and mentoring.
Lead and support the site teams in the implementation of capital investment plans.
Engage other business functions to ensure smooth Supply operations during project implementation.
Ensure alignment to Diageo Global Risk Management Standards. Ensure Diageo has the most cost-effective investment solution.
Instill a culture of continuous improvement.
Mentor and develop engineering and operations personnel.
Support the achievement of the overall Diageo Mexico business plans.
Skills, experience, and qualifications:
University degree or equivalent experience in Engineering (Mechanic, Electric, Mechatronics, Industrial, Robotic, Electronic)
+3 years of shown experience in high-speed packaging lines or a combination of experience and education.
+3-year experience in consumer products industry (beverage is desirable).
Deep knowledge in FAT, SAT, VSU, Commissioning, CQV process,
Knowledge in qualification process (IQ, OQ, PQ).
Demonstrated proficiencies on electric projects, automation, industrial networks.
Deep knowledge, Servo, drives, PLCs, Scada (supervisory), MES or equivalent experience (manufacturing execution system), ERP.
Instruments Hygienic design to ensure food safety
Implement safe production processes and equipment that stay in sync with the exacting food regulations and standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to lead multiple work streams while delivering to target dates.
Microsoft Office suite literate (MS Project a plus).
Shown successful project management delivery with consistent +3 years track record
Confirmed commercial and negotiation skills.
Able to optimally work with and in the business automating and streamlining business processes.
Strong ability to work independently and be resolved as it relates to workload, problem solving and fixing.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate multi-functionally and coordinate efforts around process improvement.
Confirmed understanding of basic elements of Good Manufacturing Practices in a manufacturing environment.
Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under time critical situations.
Authority proficiency in collecting business requirements, process flows and use cases for root cause analysis.
Knowledge of safety and hygiene.
Spanish and intermediate – advance English are required.
