Network Engineer

Network Engineers maintain the Network Infrastructure by installing and tracking Networking components, performing upgrades of software, maintaining Network hardware, addressing questions about technical problems, and improving efficiency by evaluating infrastructure functions. Skills will include the ability to be a recognized consultant on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies. Helps contribute to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Successfully operates in complex disciplines, in which the company must operate to be successful. Implements network solutions. Participates in functional teams or projects that affect the organizations long-term goals and objectives. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams. Provides guidance to other employees. Demonstrates independent judgment while collaborating with other entities.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain Enterprise Network, including switches, routers, and wireless systems.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues in multi-site and client environments.

• Assist with network upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.

• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and internal teams to deliver successful network solutions.

• Document configurations, changes, and technical procedures to ensure accuracy and knowledge transfer.

• Provide client-facing support and act as a subject matter expert for networking best practices.

• Maintain awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements.

• Monitor and test network performance for potential improvement opportunities.

• Offers input of information and operational support systems with emphasis on network architecture.

• Engages vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

• Assist with deployment of improvement opportunities to the environment.

• Offer input on technical designs for enterprise solutions across multiple platforms and technologies.

• Ability to lead technical projects.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively work with both peers and clients.

• Provides input on solution and integration opportunities to defined network segments.

• Reviews architectural solutions and deploys recommendations.

• References knowledge tools and communities.

• Participates in memberships in the networking professional community.

• Provides input on internally published material such as knowledge briefs, service delivery kit components or technical modules, etc.

Required

• 5–8+ years of professional experience as a Network Engineer or equivalent role.

• Strong expertise with Cisco networking technologies (switching, routing, wireless, VoIP QoS preferred).

• Experience with VPNs, VLANs, WAN/LAN design, network segmentation, and security hardening.

• Familiarity with monitoring and management tools.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong documentation, organization, and time-management skills.

• 5 - 8+ years of Intermediate level network administration experience in Cisco or equivalent platform; preferably in a remote management center/data center enterprise environment.

• Experience with enterprise monitoring systems.

• Understanding of network hardware components and troubleshooting procedures.

• Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail, works independently.

• Skills in seeking solutions to network problems using one's own resources with proven track record in critical issue resolution.

• Proven ability to effectively work with other technical resources.

• Certifications: CCNA (i.e. Routing/Switching, Security, Wireless), NSE 2/3 and/or equivalent work experience.

Preferred

• Knowledge with supporting environments that include infrastructure elements such as hosting, enterprise storage, BUR

• Understanding of ITIL concepts

• Skills in monitoring and testing system performance; prepare analyze, deliver system performance statistics with recommendations

• Ability to oversee the design, development, and implementation of systems, software, applications, and related products

• Advanced degree or higher in computer science. A combination of education, experience and training may be considered in lieu of a formal degree

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team

Minimum Physical Expectations

Minimum Environmental Expectations

• This position will require working indoors. Typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week with some weekend work, as well as longer hours as needed.
