Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer for our Northeast Environmental Business Unit based out of Parsippany, NJ. The position will perform a variety of environmental engineering tasks in support of navigation channel maintenance dredging operations including beneficial use, coastal restoration, stormwater management, resiliency planning, and environmental permitting in the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Responsibilities will include: preparation of plans and specifications for dredging, analysis of sediment management options, and hydraulic analysis.

The Senior Environmental/Civil Engineer must be flexible, client-focused and capable of working independently, while supporting a team that includes engineers, scientists, and field personnel. The work is diverse and ranges from coordination of field inspection during construction and soil/groundwater sampling to technical work that requires strong communication skills and knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation and/or ArcGIS software products required. Current OSHA 40-hr certification and/or other applicable certification preferred.

Responsibilities

1. Assigns tasks to engineers, scientists, technicians and administrative staff.
2. Interacts with the client in the field, at meetings, and on conference calls
3. Plans and coordinates aspects of work.
4. Prepares and manages scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
5. Assists with proposals to provide professional services.
6. Work with design team across multiple offices and multiple disciplines to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.
7. Meet client deadlines and project budgets.
8. Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and county/agency review staff.
9. Composes technical reports, memorandums and other written communication
10. Handles multiple concurrent projects.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience
• PE (NJ, NY, or PA) is required
• OSHA 40-hr certification
• Supports Practice Leads and Management.
• Knowledge of FEMA, USACE, USCG, NJDEP, NYSDEC, NYCDEP and/or PADEP requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
• Responsible for preparation of construction plans and specs, and supporting calculations/analysis in collaboration with survey data
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and GIS software.
• Knowledge/experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, bridge scour analysis, stormwater management, roadway drainage design for transportation-related projects is strongly desirable.
• Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling desired
• Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required
