Work You'll Do As a Senior Consultant Data Modeling & Data Governance within the business-aligned GES Technology group, you will drive the design, standardization, and governance of enterprise data assets across the Data & Analytics team. This role will focus on building high-quality conceptual, logical, and physical data models while helping define and operationalize data governance practices that improve data consistency, quality, usability, and compliance. You will have the opportunity to partner with a team of experienced product owners, product managers and leaders from other key workstreams in the practice and will be supported by a team of experienced practitioners.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise and domain initiatives.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, data architects and analysts to translate business requirements into scalable data models and standards.
  • Advance the enterprise conceptual and canonical data models to improve consistency across systems, integrations, and reporting.
  • Ensure data models align with enterprise architecture standards, integration patterns, and reporting needs.
  • Define and document business terms, data definitions, data standards, and critical data elements.
  • Establish and support data governance frameworks, policies, and processes covering data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, quality, privacy, retention, and access controls.
  • Support data cataloging, metadata management and lineage documentation activities to improve data transparency and control.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and privacy requirements, including policies that protect sensitive data and support applicable standards such as GDPR.

The Team At Deloitte Tax LLP, our Global Employer Services (GES) Technology Group consultants help multinational clients develop programs, processes and digital offerings to manage a global workforce and the compliance obligations arising from global mobility, business travel and remote working. People within our technology group come from a diverse background – they partner with our go-to-market teams and global clients to solve challenging problems and design experiences and products that anticipate what our Deloitte clients will want and also solutions that keep them compliant with global and local regulations.

Qualifications Required:

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2–3 days per week.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data management consulting or industry roles, with expertise in data governance, data standards, metadata, and data quality, plus hands-on experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models and applying core modeling techniques such as entity-relationship modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and third normal form.
  • Demonstrated experience using data modeling tools such as Erwin, Lucid or Visio.
  • Demonstrated experience with business glossaries, critical data elements, metadata management, and data catalog practices.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting data governance activities, including data definitions, standards, lineage, data quality, stewardship and ownership.
  • Demonstrated experience leading data management workstreams across distributed teams and facilitating cross-functional discussions with business, technology, and architecture stakeholders to gather requirements and define data models.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Limited sponsorship may be available.
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible: Licensed Attorney Enrolled Agent
    • Technology Certifications: Solutions Developer CPA in State of Practice/Primary Office Vendor certification for management of implementations (Avalara AvaTax, Oracle, SAP, Thomson Reuters, etc.)
    • Relevant industry certification such as Project Management (PMP) Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) Six Sigma (Black Belt)

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $93,660 to $213,200. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
