Principal DevOps / Software Engineer (Cloud Orchestration & Platform Engineering)

What you'll achieve
As a Principal DevOps / Software Engineer, you will architect, build, and evolve the cloud automation, orchestration, and platform capabilities that power our global development ecosystem. You will work deeply within our VMwareâbased infrastructure stack, spanning Aria Automation, Aria Operations, VCF, ESXi, and vCenter, while driving modernization toward nextâgeneration VCF Operations and AIâenabled orchestration frameworks.
You will partner closely with our software engineering Scrum teams to deliver resilient, intelligent, and scalable automation services that enhance developer productivity, streamline reservation and deployment workflows, and maintain the reliability of critical DevOps tool chains. Your leadership will influence both technology strategy and handsâon implementation across complex hybridâcloud environments.
You will:
- Design, implement, and evolve cloud automation and orchestration workflows for VMwareâbased platforms, including Aria Automation/Operations and emerging VCF Operations
- Architect and maintain integrations with ServiceNow, reservation systems, deployment services, and asset management platforms supporting global engineering teams
- Develop, enhance, and maintain automation pipelines and services supporting virtual and physical asset provisioning
- Lead modernization initiatives as Aria is modernized, transitioning orchestration capabilities into new VCFâbased platforms and intelligent automation ecosystems
- Create automation frameworks, APIs, and services enabling selfâservice provisioning, developer tooling, and global platform operations
- Collaborate closely within Agile/SCRUM teams to design highâquality automation, observability, and platform capabilities aligned with product engineering needs
- Drive architectural discussions, document solutions, and mentor engineering peers in DevOps engineering, platform automation, and VMwareâcentered cloud technologies
- Champion secure-by-design engineering practices, reliable CI/CD methodologies, and scalable operational patterns across the stack

- 8â12 years of professional experience in DevOps engineering, cloud automation, or software engineering, with seniorâlevel ownership of infrastructure orchestration and developerâfocused services
- Expert-level proficiency with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vCenter, ESXi, and enterpriseâscale virtualization management
- Extensive hands-on experience with VMware Aria Automation (vRA/vRealize), Aria Operations, and orchestration tooling, including lifecycle management, blueprints, policies, and extensibility
- Demonstrated experience architecting and developing complex automation pipelines, including API-driven workflows, infrastructure-as-code, and multiâplatform integrations
- Strong programming or scripting expertise (Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or equivalent) for automation, platform integration, and orchestration logic
- Experience integrating DevOps automation with ServiceNow, including CMDB synchronization, workflow automation, and custom orchestration triggers
- Deep understanding of cloud automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and enterprise DevOps practices
- Strong knowledge of platform observability, operational analytics, and distributed system diagnostics
- Ability to lead architectural initiatives, produce clear technical documentation, and mentor cross-functional engineering teams
- Experience operating within Agile/SCRUM teams, influencing strategy across multiple software and infrastructure groups
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with global engineering, operations, and platform teams
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with ServiceNow development, including scripting, custom integrations, API development, and platform configuration
- Exposure to IPAM solutions or network services automation (e.g., Infoblox or equivalent)
- Strong familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies and enterprise SDLC practices
- Experience with GitOps and containerâoriented tooling such as Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, or related platforms
- Exposure to Agentic AI / GenAI as applied to workflow automation, intelligent orchestration, or advanced developer tooling
- Experience developing automation for hybrid cloud or multiâcloud environments
- Understanding of infrastructure security, RBAC models, and enterprise compliance frameworks
