Construction Services Coordinator

The Construction Services Coordinator manages construction contracts of moderate complexity, professional services, and construction services contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. The position holder participates in daily discussions and negotiations with contractors, consultants, and client partners regarding the quality of work, interpretation of contract documents, changes to the scope of work, review of periodic payment requests, and other relevant topics. They manage the risks associated with contract management within delegated authority, ensure compliance with service sector requirements, and integrate activities with site teams and other service sectors.

Key Activities and Periodic Tasks: Here is a representative but not exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities related to the position:

  • Manage contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and quality estimates.
  • Coordinate and resolve daily contract issues.
  • Monitor and control schedules.
  • Liaise with client partners (e.g., market-related problems and risks, and negotiation and issuance of corrective orders).
  • Maintain records of activities performed on site (e.g., photos and activity reports).
  • Liaise with other service sectors and site teams as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships within Construction Defence Canada as well as with the industry, client partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, in accordance with the expectations of the Corporation and client partners.
  • Manage market-related risks.

Other:

  • Manage market financial records.
  • Coordinate expert review of construction and third-party testing.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety, and industrial safety requirements.
  • Support or lead business expansion activities.
  • Perform other tasks on request.

Knowledge, Studies/Certification(s), and Experience:

  • General and specific practices, methods, trends, and legislation in construction.
  • Construction products and materials.
  • Project management, contract management, and risk management principles.
  • Health and safety management.

Minimum requirement: a college diploma in engineering, applied sciences, or a related field, and four years of relevant experience, or equivalent.

Advantage: a certification in a relevant field (e.g., Certified Engineering Technologist).

Capacities:

  • Use appropriate software and operating systems.
  • Interpret plans and estimates.
  • Apply project management, contract management, and risk management techniques in the context of construction and consulting contracts.

Improvement and Leadership:

  • Provide functional advice and guidance to employees and client partners.

Work Conditions:

  • The position holder works on typical construction sites, where it is mandatory to wear basic safety equipment.
  • The position holder sometimes works in a typical office environment and may be required to travel occasionally.
