Construction Services Coordinator
The Construction Services Coordinator manages low to moderately complex construction contracts, professional services contracts, and services contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. The position holder may provide support in more complex contracts following functional guidelines of a Contract Coordinator. The position holder participates in daily discussions and negotiations with contractors and client partners regarding the quality of work, interpretation of contract documents, changes to the scope of work, review of periodic payment requests, and other relevant topics. They manage the risks associated with contract management within delegated authority and ensure compliance with the requirements of the services sector.
Key activities and periodic tasks include:
- Managing contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Coordinating and resolving daily contractual issues.
- Monitoring and controlling schedules.
- Liaising with client partner representatives (e.g., market-related problems and risks).
- Maintaining records of site activities (e.g., photos and activity reports), as needed.
- Evaluating, negotiating, and issuing corrective purchase orders.
- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships within Defence Construction Canada as well as with industry, client partners, and stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with quality standards, in line with the expectations of the Corporation and client partners.
Other responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and industrial security requirements.
- Performing financial control of contracts.
- Coordinating expert consultant construction reviews and third-party testing.
- Managing market-related risks.
- Performing other tasks as required.
Knowledge, studies/certifications, and experience:
- Minimum requirement: a college diploma in engineering, applied sciences, or a related field, and approximately two years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
Skills:
- Using appropriate software and operating systems.
- Interpreting plans and specifications.
- Applying project management, contract management, and risk management techniques in construction and consulting contracts.
Professional Development and Leadership:
- Providing functional advice and guidance to employees and client partners.
Work Conditions:
- The position holder works on typical construction sites, where it is mandatory to wear basic safety equipment.
- The position holder sometimes works in a typical office environment and may be required to travel occasionally.
