Environmental Services Coordinator

The environmental services coordinator provides environmental services, including technical advice, guidelines, and recommendations, to partner clients on projects that generally have higher complexity, scope, and risk, within one or more sectors of environmental services. These services may be provided through internal resources or contracts with third parties. The position holder prepares technical documents, reviews deliverables, participates in the procurement process, supervises contractor and consultant activities, and coordinates project activities to ensure that general needs are met on time, within scope and budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate environmental work on a wide variety of projects to monitor compliance with legal requirements, among other duties.
  • Provide technical environmental support or lead the contracting and management of contracts.
  • Prepare environmental reports to meet the requirements of partner clients.
  • Ensure that service level agreement deliverables are met and that work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Review environmental reports, work statements, and estimates, or conduct peer reviews.
  • Provide full project management services to ensure that deliverables are completed on time, within scope and budget.
  • Support or lead business development activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships within the corporation and with industry, partner clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, in accordance with the expectations of the corporation and partner clients.
  • Manage risks.

Additional Tasks

  • Develop environmental procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Lead quality control procedures for service level agreements and deliverables.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

General and Specific Knowledge

  • Best practices, methods, trends, and legislation in environmental science and engineering.
  • Project management and risk management principles.
  • Health and safety management.

Education/Certifications and Experience

  • Minimum requirements: a university degree in biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field, and five years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Advantage: specialized knowledge, training, and certification (if applicable) in one or more sectors of environmental services.

Skills

  • Use appropriate software and operating systems.
  • Create databases.
  • Implement project management and risk management techniques.

Leadership and Development

  • Lead and manage direct reports, if applicable.
  • Provide functional guidance and advice to other employees and partner clients.

Work Conditions

  • Typical office environment; occasional travel.
  • The position holder may be required to work on environmental or construction sites, in which case they may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment.
