Environmental Services Coordinator

The Environmental Services Coordinator provides environmental services, including technical advice, guidelines, and recommendations, to partner clients within projects of generally moderate complexity, scope, and risk, in one or more areas of the Environmental Services. These services may be provided through internal resources or contracts with third parties. The position holder prepares technical documents, reviews deliverables, participates in the procurement process, supervises contractor and consultant activities, and coordinates project activities to ensure that general needs are met on time, within scope and budget.

Main duties include:

  • Leading and coordinating environmental work related to a wide variety of projects to monitor compliance with legal requirements, among other things.
  • Providing technical support in environmental matters or leading the contracting and management of contracts.
  • Preparing environmental reports to meet the requirements of partner clients.
  • Ensuring that service level agreement deliverables are delivered and that work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Reviewing environmental reports, work statements, and estimates, or conducting peer reviews.
  • Providing full project management services to ensure that deliverables are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships within the Corporation as well as with the industry, partner clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards, in accordance with the expectations of the Corporation and partner clients.

Other tasks include:

  • Developing environmental procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Leading quality control procedures for service level agreements and deliverables.
  • Supporting or leading business expansion activities.
  • Managing risks.
  • Performing other tasks as requested.

General and specific knowledge:

  • Best practices, methods, trends, and legislation in environmental science and engineering.
  • Project management and risk management principles.
  • Health and safety management.

Education/certifications and experience:

  • Minimum requirements: a college diploma in biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field and four years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Advantage: a university degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field, or possessing specialized knowledge, training, and certification (if applicable) in one or more areas of the Environmental Services.

Skills:

  • Using appropriate software and operating systems.
  • Creating databases.
  • Applying project management and risk management techniques.

Development and leadership:

  • Providing functional advice and guidance to employees and partner clients.

Working conditions:

  • Typical office environment; occasional travel.
  • The position holder may be required to work on environmental or construction sites, in which case they may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment.
