Job Summary:

  • As a member of Global Operations Engineering department and a leader of Manufacturing Engineering Council, Principal Engineer has expertise in one or more critical process areas on Semiconductor equipment assembly or weldments with experience in performing DOE, process modeling, system design and DFM. Provide leadership ME council and drive global site Manufacturing Engineering leaders in strategizing world class manufacturing methods and leveraging best known methods to achieve global standardization.
  • Principle engineer will also be responsible for managing Physical automation initiatives from ideation to deployment at multiple sites across globe. Work closely with Automation system engineering and site automation representatives to deploy multiple automation systems for productivity improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ME Council Leader:

  • Requires a broad knowledge of Manufacturing Practices, Assembly Prints, Bill of Materials to be able to guide Manufacturing Engineers in creating Manufacturing ready documentation such as S.O.E.'s (Sequence of Events) and Assembly Process Workflow.
  • Able to lead worldwide Mfg. Engineering leaders given the set of objectives to be met on yearly basis to govern the MFG Eng council.
  • Design new systems and processes for the introduction of new products or for the improvement of existing ones.
  • Ensure all product and system requirements are considered from the initial product conception to the finished result as per Customer specification.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout
  • Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities.
  • Requires contact with Customers, vendor's representatives. Attends and participates in Customer meetings.
  • Confers with engineers, technicians, customers, and others to discuss best practices in effort to streamline build processes and procedures.
  • Manage/review manufacturing engineers training records and ensure their competency matrixes are maintained to optimum level across globe.

Technical Project Management:

  • Collaborate between automation system engineering and site automation representatives to identify new automation opportunities.
  • Manage multiple automation projects from ideation to deployment phase using project tracker (Smart sheets) and global automation tools and templates. (Business case development, ROI calculation, Scope of Work, Factory Acceptance Tested.,)
  • Periodically engage with all manufacturing sites and update/maintain accuracy of global automation maturity tracker for all manufacturing sites
  • Develop automation process mapping for global sites and update periodically.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Solid Project Management Skills
    • Prior factory automation systems (Modular, connected cells) deployment skills
    • Proven knowledge and experience in High mix/low volume Semion OEM equipment/sub system welding, assembly and testing.
    • Demonstrated skills in implementing Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Lean Manufacturing and other quality and process improvement tools.
    • Proactive self-starter who can lead with a strong ability to drive changes and continuous improvement.
    • Customer oriented both internally and externally.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Proven experience in engaging/leading cross functional team.
    • Demonstrates high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity, and creativity.
    • Ability to effectively train people inside and outside their work group.
    • Develops and applies advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
    • Exercises independent initiative/judgement in setting and implementing goals.

    Educational/Certification Requirement:

    • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

    Experience Requirement:

    Work Experience:

    • 7 to 10+ years' experience in a Manufacturing environment with at least 5 years in Manufacturing Engineering or Operations Engineering preferably from Semiconductor OEM / Equipment mfg. industries.

    Project Management Experience:

    • 3 to 5+ years in managing automation or/and mfg. engineering improvement projects.
