Lead Engineer

The Lead Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance service and repair of equipment. The primary responsibility of the Lead Engineer is the proactive upkeep of the equipment and systems, proper and adequate repair of the building and equipment, safe use of tools and other power equipment, effective troubleshooting of problems, support of guests and operational need, and leadership of the engineering team.

Job Duties:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Lead Engineer within the hotel industry.
  • Expertise in maintaining HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, in hotel settings.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting issues and executing repairs promptly.
  • Prioritize repairs or maintenance needs that may inconvenience or negatively impact the guest experience.
  • Effectively communicate with hotel departments to ensure timely response and completion of maintenance needs.
  • Train, instruct, and support the hotel's engineering team.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Physical capability to handle and move heavy equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to property guidelines to ensure the health, safety and comfort of our team members and guests.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
  • Utilize Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and in accordance with property specific guidelines.
  • Carry out regular maintenance tasks and thorough inspections to uphold the operational integrity of hotel systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and monitor inventory of supplies for efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, HVAC equipment, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and program TVs. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, and properly store flammable materials.
  • Support the setup and dismantling of equipment for hotel events as required.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and pivot frequently throughout the workday.
  • Lift, lower, push, pull and maneuver up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel or similar facility.
  • High School diploma or equivalent education certificate required.
  • Electrical and/or plumbing certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in primary language used in the workplace.

Wage Rate: $36.00 per hour
