Job Overview
The AMC Support Analyst is responsible for protecting collateral integrity and ensuring appraisal quality across Deephaven's loan portfolio. This role serves as the primary escalation and resolution point between Deephaven Mortgage and Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs), ensuring appraisal reports meet internal credit standards, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
This position plays a critical role in mitigating valuation risk, reducing underwriting suspense conditions, and supporting sound credit decisions in a fast-paced non-QM lending environment.
The preferred location for this role is Charlotte, NC to work in our office located in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte. Remote options are a possibility.
What You'll Do
- As the AMC Support Analyst, you will be responsible for coordinating between various departments—including sales, operations, and underwriting—and the AMCs:
- Perform detailed reviews of residential appraisal reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with investor, agency, and regulatory guidelines
- Identify and analyze material deficiencies, unsupported adjustments, inconsistencies, and valuation risks
- Issue clear, guideline-supported revision requests to Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs)
- Serve as the primary liaison between Deephaven and AMCs to resolve appraisal-related concerns and escalations
- Partner with Underwriting, Operations, Risk, and Quality Control to address valuation disputes and complex collateral scenarios
- Track appraisal conditions and manage issues through resolution to support underwriting turn-time expectations
- Monitor vendor performance, including quality, responsiveness, and adherence to service level agreements
- Maintain complete and audit-ready documentation within Encompass and appraisal tracking systems
- Identify recurring appraisal quality trends and recommend process improvements
- Support internal audits, investor reviews, and regulatory examinations related to collateral documentation
- Contribute to the development and refinement of appraisal review procedures and quality control standards
- Provide coaching and guidance to internal sales and production staff on appraisal-related questions, escalation paths, and guideline interpretation
- Help build team-wide awareness of appraisal quality standards through informal training and feedback
- Hold AMC vendors accountable to quality benchmarks and SLAs, escalating performance issues and contributing to vendor scorecard reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2–4 years of experience in mortgage operations, appraisal review, collateral risk, or underwriting support
- Working knowledge of appraisal methodologies (sales comparison, income approach, cost approach) and USPAP compliance standards
- Ensure escalation and revision request processes remain compliant with Appraiser Independence Requirements (AIR).
- Proven ability to assess valuation risk, identify material deficiencies, and construct guideline-supported revision requests
- Analytical ability to assess valuation risk and identify material deficiencies
- Excellent written communication skills for structured revision requests
- Experience working in Encompass or similar LOS
- Experience in non-QM lending environment
- Exposure to investor guideline overlays
- Background in QC, underwriting, or risk review
- Familiarity with appraisal management platforms
