Description

Manages Dietetics to produce high quality safe foods. Plans, directs, and coordinates functions of department and vending services to assure profitable operations with high quality food and service. Purchasing and storage of foods and appropriate supplies in a cost effective manner. Plans, directs and coordinates functions in Therapeutic-Diet Office. Supervises departmental manager(s) and team leader(s) and has functional relationship with other staff members. Coordinates staff development to include: recruiting, orienting, training, and evaluating departmental personnel. Participates on department/hospital committees and teams to develop and implement short and long term goals for the department individually and for the Hospital as a whole.

  • Supervises proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensures all payroll records are current, accurate and maintained.
  • Directs recipe standardization and development.
  • Keeps procedure manuals and standardized recipes current.
  • Ensures food handling safety practices are followed.
  • Participates in the Hospital's QAPI, quality control and cost containment efforts.
  • Prepares employee work schedules.
  • Orientates, schedules, hires, evaluates and recommends wage increases, disciplinary action and promotions in areas of responsibility. Must be able to teach and delegate so all areas meet routine menu and special function requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends system changes for areas of responsibility.
  • Develops and plans and/or coordinates developing and planning of menus to conform to the nutritional requirements of customers.
  • Establishes and maintains records appropriate to safe food handling and financial accountability and responsibility.
  • Develops policies surrounding a 3-day emergency food supply.
  • Supervises maintenance requests for hospital and vending company owned equipment.
  • Supervises requisitioning and storing of food supplies.
  • Oversees and managers Room Service process and expands the service as needed or requested.
  • Participates in relevant educational opportunities and transfers knowledge to staff through in-services.
  • Other functions: * Makes recommendation for equipment replacement and purchase of additional equipment. * Conducts monthly employee meetings. * Participates in professional and hospital-community activities. * Performs additional duties necessary to profitable operating with high quality food and service. * Meets with regulatory inspection officials. * May be required to work special functions outside of hospital.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities * Food & Nutrition Ambassadors, Food & Nutrition Production, Food & Nutrition DSS Relief Cook, Food & Nutrition Asst. Managers. Clinical Dietitians are supervised by a registered Clinical Dietitian Supervisor

Required

3-5 years:
Bachelor's Degree in management or related discipline Preferred
