We're looking for a full-time, staff PRINCIPAL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, to join the Day & Zimmermann team. As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be interfacing with clients and leading a team of engineers/designers to develop electrical solutions for capital projects. In addition to technical leadership, the position requires the individual to perform discipline administrative and supervisory functions on the assigned project, including the development of discipline scope document, engineering budget, schedule and associated staffing plans and management of assigned staff. May also fill in for the Engineering Department Manager, as needed.
• Responsible for all engineering and design activities of individuals on assigned team and for the quality of design and engineering products for assigned projects. • Coordinates work with other disciplines, departments, construction, site based personnel, vendors, subcontractors and the client. • Accountable to the Project group for cost and schedule commitments. Prepares and reviews discipline construction cost estimates, as required. • Evaluate team members for compliance with established goals/objectives and their contributions in attaining those goals/objectives. Provide coaching and feedback to team members, assist with completing performance reviews, reviewing and approving goals • Establishes and reviews work plans, staffing requirements and schedules for assigned team and project. Establishes staffing requirements based on active and anticipated workloads for assigned team. • Reviews and approves all engineering drawings, calculations and specifications for compliance with established procedures, design standards and project requirements. Responsible for technical content and quality of discipline engineering for assigned projects. Reviews project design regularly to ensure compliance with design criteria.
• Well versed in industrial design practices for medium and low voltage electrical distribution including, but not limited to, lighting, grounding, lightening protection, power distribution, heat tracing and electrical area classification. Experience applying industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NEMA, NFPA). Very knowledgeable of electrical design practices for Class I and II areas (classified for gas and dust). • Strong organizational skills for multiple projects; Effective Writing and Communication Skills. • Estimating, scheduling, cost control, communications, management of people and ability to lead the completion of projects. • Basic CAD skills in AutoCAD, Revit and Microstation; Proficient in the use of electrical system modeling software such as SKM and/or ETAP to perform power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash, etc.) • Experience in effective project execution practices and application of project procedures; Multidiscipline team player with a strong understanding of the interfaces required with other disciplines.
• BS/BA degree in Electrical Engineering required from an ABET accredited college/university • 15+ years experience • PE required • Great attitude and team player. • Successful completion of drug and background screening process. In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $136,400 - $204,600. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
