The Director, Cell Culture R&D and Services is responsible for leading teams of scientists to develop innovative cell culture media and feed products that meet market needs and customer expectations. Additionally, this role is responsible for building and retaining high-performing teams, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and driving operational excellence in project execution.

This position reports to the Senior Director of the Technical Operations and Innovation Team and is part of the Cell Culture Media business unit located in Logan, Utah, USA and will be an on-site role.

What You Will Do:

  • Direct teams of scientists in the design and development of new and improved cell culture products - including media, feeds, supplements and buffers - while providing deep scientific and technical expertise.
  • Drive operational excellence in partnership with Project Management to implement and monitor KPIs, risk management, and program oversight frameworks to ensure continuous improvement and strategic alignment.
  • Provide and integrate customer and end-user requirements into product and project design to ensure solutions are market-relevant, scalable, and differentiated.
  • Develop and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence through mentorship, technical development, and accountability. Promote team engagement, retention, and professional growth.
  • Coordinate partnerships with stakeholders, including Global Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Management, Commercial, Quality, and Core Accounts/Project Specialists to effectively meet stakeholder and customer needs.

Who You Are:

  • Minimum of MS in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology) with a minimum of 15 years in direct industry experience in commercial media development and/or experience performing media/process optimization within a R&D/service/biotechnology organization
  • Minimum of five years leading professional teams
  • Proven success in coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and managing multiple complex cross-functional projects.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills, including regular touchpoints with leadership and business teams in lay terms.
  • Demonstrated ability in mentoring and developing relationships and talent.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel - 15% travel, mainly in the US and Europe regions but potentially globally as needed.

It Would Be A Plus If You Also Possess Previous Experience In:

  • QMS / GMP requirements
  • Manufacturing processes and analytical techniques
  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline

The annual salary range for this role is $160,000 - $200,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
