Job Preparation Engineer

As a Job Preparation Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and accurate preparation of shipbuilding production activities. You will be responsible for preparing technical documentation, defining production workflows, allocating materials, and providing technical support to the production teams.
Key accountabilities include:
- Prepare pipe spool drawings and documentation using SpoolFab.
- Define execution plans and production workflows to ensure efficient fabrication.
- Calculate and allocate materials in the ERP system (IFS) according to production requirements.
- Create routing and Shop Orders for the production workshops and ensure material certification.
- Analyze and manage material stocks to maintain smooth production flow.
- Issue material deviations within the established limits of competence.
- Provide technical assistance to production departments for resolving design or execution issues.
- Analyze and propose solutions for technical problems encountered during ship construction.
- Ensure that all documentation is properly controlled, recorded, and distributed according to Damen's Quality Management System procedures.
- Monitor compliance with quality, health & safety, and environmental standards.
- Support continuous improvement activities by identifying and implementing optimization measures.
Skills & experience include:
- University degree in Engineering – preferably in Shipbuilding or another technical field.
- Relevant professional experience in a technical role within shipbuilding or other complex industrial projects.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (IFS), MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD/DraftSight, and SpoolFab.
- Good understanding of shipyard production processes, technical documentation, and material flow.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
- Intermediate level of English (written and spoken).
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with capacity to collaborate across departments.
- Flexibility, adaptability to changing tasks, and a proactive attitude.
